Let's start the discussion without wasting much time.

1. Introduction to Bengaluru.

Bengaluru is one of the well-named city in the southern part of India and also the capital city of Karnataka. We also called it as Silicon valley, Garden city, Space city, and it was founded by Kempegowda-1(Father of modern Bengaluru) in the year 1537.
The most interesting fact about Bengaluru is
- 2nd fastest-growing city (after Mumbai).
- 4th most populous city in India.
- 28th most populous city in the world.

Looking into the geographical aspects, Bengaluru is located at a height of over 900mts(3000ft) above sea level.

2. History of Bengaluru.

As per the inscription date back @ 890AD shows Bengaluru is over the history of 1000 years. Let's move into the history of Bengaluru as per the historical timeline.

-890 AD GANGA'S KINGDOM.

The Ganga's kingdom is one of the empire who ruled the southern part of India including the nearest places of Bengaluru from the period 7th to 9th century as per inscription founded in Nageswara temple Beguru, Bengaluru.

Inscription founded in Nageswara temple Beguru village

In the above inscription, data was found about Bengaluru Kalaga( Battle of Bengaluru) and it is written in Halegannada, also as per the historian R.Narasimhachar " Epigraphia of Carnatica", Ganga kingdom ruled the southern part of India including Bengaluru (at that time called Benga-val-oru).

-1024 AD CHOLA'S KINGDOM

The Chola's are next who ruled Bengaluru after Ganga's kingdom.
In the year 1024 AD Chola's kingdom acquire Bengaluru from Ganga's, as per the evidence founded in south Bengaluru district called Ananthpura village chola.

Tamil inscription about Chola's dynasty founded in chola village bengaluru

-1117 AD BATTLE OF TALAKADU.

The Battle of talakadu is the most prominent war, why because this indicated revenge taken by Ganga's (with the help of Chaluky's, RRastrakuta's, and Hoysala's) on Chola's empire for earlier lost southern India in the year 1024 AD (look back to timeline 1024 AD Ganga's kingdom).

The result of this war is Ganga's won the battle, but Hoysala's took over the control because of Hoysala's king Vishnuvardhana took a major role to won the battle.

-11th CENTURY.

As I early mentioned about Hoysala's started ruling south India.

-Now it's the time to know about the small story behind the name Bendakaalooru.

'Once upon a time Hoysala's king Veera Ballala-2 went to hunting in the near forest of Bengaluru. On the way to forest he missed his way and he came across the village lady hut. He was very hungry and thirsty, he asked a lady to give some food, that lady served boiled ladyfingers ( Bende kaayi in Kannada), by its delicious taste Veera Ballala-2 Heartedly named that place as BENDA-KAAL-OORU ( town of boiled beans). Then by word of mouth, the name was spread all around' as Bendakaalooru.'

-1537 AD YELAHANKA NAADU PRABHUS

Naada Prabhu Kempegowda-1

The Yelahanka Naadu Prabhus are one of the prominent rulers of Bengaluru, among this KEMPEGOWDA-1 ( Father of modern Bengaluru) build a new town and re-named Bendakaalooru as Bengaluru.
Most notable work done by Kempegowda-1 is, he divided Bengaluru into two petes(Markets).

1. Chikkapete
2. Doddapete

After the death of Kempegowda-1st, his som Kempegowda-2 ruled charge. He also did a lot of work.

Ex:- Kempegowda-2 built lakes & 4 watching tower called

1. Kempapura lake

Kempapura lake located in Hebbal Bengaluru.

2. Karajikere lake

Karajikere lake located in Mysuru.

3. Watching towers

-17th CENTURY SULTANA'S.

After the Naada prabhus rule, at the beginning of the 17th-century SULTANA's started to rule and we also called this time as  "Start of the Muslim era in India".

-1689 AD WODEYARS OF MYSURU.

In the year 1689 AD Sultana's was in the fear of British ruler, they sell Bengaluru to Chikkadevaraja wodeyars (Mysuru kingdom ruler) for 3lakhs rupees. After this wodeyars named Bengaluru as the capital city of Mysuru state.

- 1947 AD INDIA GOT INDEPENDENCE.

In the year 1947 India got Independence from British. At that time Bengaluru remains under the capital city of Mysuru state.

- 1973 AD MYSURU RENAMED TO KARNATAKA.

In the year 1973 Mysuru state was renamed as Karnataka state, then also Bengaluru remained as the capital city.

-2014 AD BANGALORE RENAMED TO BENGALURU.

In This year Bangalore was renamed to Bengaluru.

[Points to know:- The name Bangalore was named by the British for then convenience to pronounce, but earlier it called in the name Bengaluru only. For the above reasons GOV't of Karnataka put a proposal in front of the Central gov't to change the name].

Did you know:- Today in all over Bengaluru Government offices, universities, Transportation corporation, Electricity board etc.. uses the name BENGALURU only.
